1953년에 발표한 한설야의 장편소설이다. 1945년 이후 월북한 한설야가 북한에서 발표한 작품이다. 작품은 북한문학의 중요한 특징인 "수령형상"소설에 해당하는 것으로, 역사적 사실을 바탕으로 지도자를 소설의 주인공으로 삼는다.

This novel by Han Seolya was published in North Korea in 1953. Han went to North Korea in 1945, and this novel falls into the unique genre of North Korean literature which is concerned with building the image of the “Great Leader” of the country. The novel builds the story around the Great Leader as the main character and incorporates historical facts into the narrative.
