Plot

From a young age, Jeom-ong is exceptionally tough and smart. She attends school at a time when it was difficult for women to get an education and even gives publicity speeches. Jeom-ong married her school teacher, Han Ung-gi, and has 11 children. Their second son, Han Seung-won, becomes the pillar of the family and helps his siblings earn a living. Interested in literature, Seung-won wants to go to Seoul to study, but his father is against the idea. His mother, Jeom-ong, supports Seung-won until the end, but this drives a wedge between his father and his mother.
